Royal Canadian Army badge and Royal Canadian Air Force crest are now available.
This time last year I had over 85 models in the queue and was running two years lead time on new requests. Mostly that was related to some physical issues I was having that was making it very difficult to sit and model. Both of those issues are mostly resolved and my pace has picked back up to the point that my lead time has now dropped under a year. I’ve also had many fewer requests this year, which I’m guessing can be attributed to three things. First, who wants to wait two years for a model. Second, I’ve got close to 1,000 models available on my site now so the in demand stuff may be already made. Third, the economy sucks.
I don’t want to say I’m mostly caught up yet because the next model in the queue was requested 1/1/21 so I don’t really have a cushion yet on that, but there’s only 15 models in the queue and I did 13 last month so I don’t really expect to carry this current queue much into February.
So bottom line, I’ll be bringing back custom modeling, most likely in January. I’m considering bringing back deadlines too but there was such a problem with people claiming deadlines when they didn’t need it just to move their request to the head of the line that I first instituted a fee and then just stopped taking them all together. I don’t know if I need a bigger fee to weed that out or what but I found that whole situation very frustrating, particularly when there were people who really did have a change of command ceremony or retirement party or something coming up soon and needed their model and they were pushed back by someone that didn’t really have a deadline.
Any way, I’ve picked the USS Omaha crest as the custom modeling return. That’s the last one I want to complete before I add anything back in. With all the stuff going on this month, that’ll probably be in early January. So if you want some custom modeling done, keep an eye here for that announcement.
