Back Again

Looks like the thru hike is off for this year.  Long list of things going wrong for me on the second try culminating in I guess noro virus.  No fun in the woods.  Couldn’t even keep water down.  Fortunately I only had to hike 2 miles to a spot I could get picked up.

I’ll probably do a few more trips up there to hike over the course of the year, a week at a time maybe.  I didn’t get my re-set on modeling I was hoping for, but I don’t know what else to do about that.  I’ll re-open the queue and start modeling again in early April.

Hike Update

I’m back in Georgia and will be starting my hike tomorrow. Tracking will go live in the morning.

I’ll have intermittent internet access so you can continue to contact me as usual but may have to wait several days for a response, and I’ll have no access to files or any ability to edit models.

Hike Update

Started the hike last Wednesday, it was an eye opening experience.  I’m now back home with some replacement gear on order, hopefully will be back on trail in a week or two at most.

Utter fail on the tracker, I forgot to set the tracking interval on it and it defaulted to 5 minutes.  That meant that by the time I was taking my first steps of the hike the battery was already dead.  That problem is resolved now, I’ll set it live when I start again.

Hike Update

I’m occasionally going to post to this blog while I’m hiking, but it’s not going to be any kind of live continuous thing.  However, I have set up a satellite tracking map that will be updated daily, probably around 4 hour increments.  If you want to follow along to see where I am you can use the link below.  If you want to get in touch with me the same email address and contact form will work for that, but there will be delays since I’ll be anywhere from 2 to 5 days at a time without signal.  I don’t recommend contacting me though twitter or facebook, I’ve been totally unsuccessful in getting them to notify me of messages.

This tracking map will start live tracking the day I start my hike, February 20th.
