Deadlines have gotten out of hand lately, I’ve got 5 models to do in the next two days.  I can do it but I’d also like to get a little exercise every now and then too.  I’m already booked through the 15th of December, and I’m not planning to do a lot of modeling the last two weeks of the year so I’m not going to be taking many more deadlines before January.

There has also been some abuse of the deadline system.  If you don’t need it right away don’t give me a deadline just to jump the line on someone else.  Right now my non-deadline primary queue is running almost 5 months behind.  That was 6 months until I blitzed through October trying to knock the queue down, an utter failure since I put out 20 models and got 20 requests in the process.

Pretty much every new customer that makes a request asks me what the fee for a request is, and a lot of people tell me they’d be glad to pay extra to get moved up.  I’ve resisted that from day one, I don’t want to nickle and dime people.  Getting stuck with a one unpurchased custom model too many led to a deposit for custom work.  I don’t want a fee for deadlines but I’m right on the edge of instituting one.  If you’ve got any suggestions shoot me an email.
